The Nine Things Every Single Needs to KnowIf you're interested in more information or in booking Lori for an event, contact her directly at lori@thesingletruth.org.
This is based on the book, and is an overview of the key truths that will shape a successful single life:
1. You may not get married.Lori shares her personal story and walks the audience through her journey to find the truth. Listeners will be challenged to evaluate what they really believe about being single, to root out the lies in their thought processes, and to change their life with the truth.
2. You are fiercely loved.
3. You can be content.
4. You are right where you’re supposed to be.
5. You have no need to be ashamed.
6. Marriage isn’t better or worse, it’s different.
7. You can change the way you feel about being single by changing the way you think about being single.
8. It’s not all about this life – it’s about the eternal.
9. Whatever happens . . . God himself will be with you.

Pursuing Contentment
This is an in-depth discussion of contentment that covers what contentment is, some of our common misconceptions, and practical steps for finding and holding on to contentment. Lori challenges singles to consider that contentment is not a feeling, but a decision – a determination to be satisfied with what we have been given.
Using the biblical examples of Mary, David, Jesus, and Paul, Lori maps out the spiritual disciplines contentment requires, including:
- Complete abandonment to the will of God
- Recognizing the value of what you have – especially the eternal value
- The ability to see good in bad
- Time and practice – choosing contentment daily
(30 to 45 minutes)
Interviews
Something that works well in a group setting is a Q&A time with the group leader, where they ask a list of interview questions in a talk show format, then open it up for questions from the audience. Lori can provide a list of suggested questions, including:
- You talk about the need for singles to realize that they may not get married. Doesn’t this demonstrate a lack of faith in God?
- Personally, are you content being single?
- Have you ever questioned God’s love in the midst of your singleness?
- What can the church do differently to embrace singles and meet their needs?
Additional Topics
Other presentations that could easily be developed from Lori’s writing include the following:
- God’s Will: Knowing you’re where you’re supposed to be
- Essential Purity (Does it really matter?)
- Desires & Promises: God’s mysterious ways (Why does he give us desires he doesn’t meet? Doesn’t he promise to meet our desires?)
- The Truth About Marriage
- How to Encourage Your Single Friends
